The following information was printed in a pamphlet distributed by the
Louisa Clean Community Commission, Louisa County, Virginia, in 2007:

As of January 1, 2007, land owners in Louisa County, Virginia will be fined unless they dispose of old derelict cars, trucks, trailers, RVs and motorcycles.

There are a number of vehicle recycling, towing and parts centers in and around Louisa that will haul the inoperative vehicles and junk away for FREE. All it takes is a phone call.

Under the ordinance, any inoperable vehicle -- except farm vehicles or moped-like vehicles -- will have to go or be screened from view. This includes any vehicles (except an antique vehicle) that does not have a valid license, decal and inspection sticker.

Exempted will be vehicles that are stored inside buildings, and a maximum of three inoperable vehicles which may be screened or covered, so long as they are not visible from a public right-of-way.

Penalities will begin at $100 if the county cites the owner of a junked vehicle, and goes up to $250 for additional summons, reaching a maximum of $5,000 for a series of violations.
