Community Events
February is such a busy month in our area! If you don’t want to stay inside and hibernate from the weather, there are plenty of things to do just outside your own home. Highly anticipated events this month range from Mother/Son and Father/Daughter Dances at the Betty Queen Center to jewelry making classes, concerts, stand-up comedy and even the Ringling Bros. circus! And, don’t forget the 8th Annual “Death By Chocolate” event to benefit the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation and Lake Anna Rescue Squad. So, get out and have some fun this February! February is also Black History Month.

Friday, February 3rd
18th Annual Father Daughter Dance – Join the fun for LCPR’s 18th Annual Valentine’s Dance. Whether you’re a dad, grandpa, uncle or step-dad, bring your favorite little sweetie (aged 5-13 years) for an evening of dancing, dress-up and fun. Refreshments will be provided and a photographer will be onsite to take photos (fee). Reservations $18.00 per couple and additional $10.00 for each additional daughter with the same father. Make up date Friday, February 24. Pictures start at 6:30 p.m., dance hours from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 4th
14th Annual Mother Son Dance – Join LCPR’s 14th Annual Mother Son Dance – now on Valentine’s Day! Sons, grandsons and nephews (aged 5-13 years) can treat their special lady to dancing and fun. Quincy Jones at the Richmond Forum – “A Storied Life and Career” will feature Quincy Jones sharing magical stories of his experiences in the entertainment industry and the illustrious stars he has known. Engineering Career Day – Watch as Virginia’s middle and high school students compete in various engineering feats like dropping an egg unbroken 25 feet and best bridge-building contests. Richmond Joint Engineer’s Council sponsors this fun event. For contest rules and details see www.RJEC.org . Easter Eggstravaganza – Louisa County’s most fabulous egg hunt! Held in Louisa Town Park, starting at 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m., for ages 1 through 8. Limited parking, so arrive early! Refreshments will be available for sale. Eggstravaganza, free. In event of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled and not rescheduled.
